The “G Drive” is your personal (private) network storage space in which only you have access.

It is a good place to store files that others don’t need to access.

Your G Drive is automatically mapped for access only when you log onto your computer on the JWU network, and is “Non-Persistent” (i.e. it disappears when you log off from your computer on the JWU network). This is why you will not see it when logging onto your computer from off the JWU network.

You can manually map your G Drive and make it stay for easy access from off campus (once logged into VPN) by following the instructions below.

1. On your desktop, click "Start."


2. Click “Computer.”


3. Click “Map network drive.”


4. Select “G:\.”


5. Enter your campus information:

  • Providence Campus: \\jwu.edu\home\pvd\username
  • N. Miami Campus: \\jwu.edu\home\mia\username
  • Denver Campus: \\jwu.edu\home\den\username
  • Charlotte Campus: \\jwu.edu\home\clt\username

6. Select “Reconnect at logon."


7. Click “Finish.”


Reconnect at Logon:

Once you selected to “Reconnect at logon” you will receive a prompt to submit a network user name and password in order to connect to the drive. 

Please submit the information as following:  

  • User name:  Username@jwu.edu
  • Password:   (Email password)  

Then select "Ok". 

1. On your desktop, click Go.


2. Click Connect to server.


3. Enter your campus information.

  • Providence: smb://jwu.edu/home/pvd/username
  • N. Miami: smb://jwu.edu/home/mia/username
  • Denver: smb://jwu.edu/home/den/username
  • Charlotte: smb://jwu.edu/home/clt/username

4. Click Connect.
