  1. Select the Phone option.

2. Pick your Country or Region from the drop-down box, type your phone number (including the area code if applicable) into the Phone Number box, Select Text me a code option, and then select Next.

You will receive a text message with a code you’ll need to enter into a verification page

Your security information is now updated to a text message to verify your identity when using self-service password reset.

SSPR Registration - Phone Call

  1. Select the Phone option.

2. Pick your Country or Region from the drop-down box, type your phone number (including the area code if applicable) into the Phone Number box, Select Call me option, and then select Next.

You’ll receive a phone call to make sure you types the right phone number. At this time you’ll be asked to push the pound (#) key to confirm and to complete your setup.

SSPR Registration - Authenticator App

  1. Select the Authenticator app option.

If you don't want to use the Microsoft Authenticator app, you can click the I want to use a different authenticator app link from the Get the app screen.

Some additional apps that can be used in place of Microsoft Authenticator:

·         Google Authenticator

·         Lastpass Authenticator

·         Authy

2. After you install the Microsoft Authenticator app or other authenticator app on your mobile device, select Next.

  • If you're prompted, allow notifications, add a new account, and then select Work or school account.

3. Select Next.

4. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app, select Add account from the Customize and control icon in the upper-right, and then select Work or school account.

  • If using a different authenticator app, these instructions will be slightly different.

5. Scan the provided QR code with the Microsoft Authenticator or other authenticator app.

  • If you can’t scan the QR code, click the Can’t scan the QR code link and manually enter the code and URL into the Microsoft Authenticator or other authenticator app.

6. Use the Microsoft Authenticator or other authenticator app to approve the notification to activate the app.

Your security info is now updated to use the Microsoft Authenticator or other authenticator app to verify your identity when using self-service password reset.

SSPR Registration - Email

1. Select the Email option, and then type your email address into the box. This email address CANNOT be your Johnson & Wales University email address.

2. Check for an email from Microsoft on behalf of Johnson & Wales University, type the included verification code into the Verify your email box, and then select Done.

If you don't see an email from Microsoft on behalf of Johnson & Wales University, make sure you typed your email address correctly, and then check your Junk or Spam folders.

3. In the Keep your account secure page, select Done.

SSPR Reset Information

Reset your password using an email address. Sends an email to the email address you previously set up in two-step verification or security info.

  1. Select Email my alternate email, and then select Email.

  2. Type the verification code from the email into the box, and then select Next.

  3. Type and confirm your new password, and then select Finish.

Reset your password using a text message. Sends a text message to the phone number you previously set up in security info.

  1. Select Text my mobile phone, type your phone number, and then select Text.

  2. Type the verification code from the text message into the box, and then select Next.

  3. Type and confirm your new password, and then select Finish

Reset your password using a notification from your authenticator app. Sends an approval notification to the authenticator app.

  1. Select Approve a notification on my authenticator app, and then select Send Notification.

  2. Approve the sign-in from your authenticator app.

  3. Type and confirm your new password, and then select Finish.

Reset your password using a code from your authenticator app. Accepts a random code provided by your authentication app.

  1. Select Enter a code from my authenticator app, and then select Send Notification.

  2. Open your authenticator app, type the verification code for your account into the box, and then select Next.

  3. Type and confirm your new password, and then select Finish.

  4. After you get the message saying that your password has been reset, you can sign in to your account using your new password.
