JWU’s VPN solution allows you to connect to the university network securely from any JWU-owned or home/personal (non-university) computer.

VPN software uses encryption and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorized users can access the university network and that the data cannot be intercepted.

This allows you to access shared resources on the university network as if you were sitting at your desk. 


1. Download the Pulse Secure installer.


2. Open the package file.


3. Click "Continue" and "Install."


4. Enter your Macintosh Administrator-level credentials.


5. Click "Close" to complete the installation.


6. After successful installation the Pulse Secure icon will be visible in the Menu Bar.


7. Click the Pulse Secure Icon. Select "Open Pulse Secure."


8. Click the + icon.


9. Enter this information:

Then click "Add."


10. Once configured the JWU VPN ACCESS connection will display in the Pulse Secure dialog box with the Connect button on the right.

Begin the initial connection by clicking on the Connect button.


11. Enter your JWU username and password and click connect.


12. Once connected, a green checkmark will display next to the connection name and there will be a Disconnect button. The Menu bar icon will also change.


To Log Out:

 


1. In the menu bar, click the Junos Pulse icon. Select "Open Junos Pulse."


2. Click "Disconnect."

You will see the Junos Pulse icon change back to normal. You are now disconnected. 


2. Run the installation executable once downloaded.


3. Follow the prompts to begin installation


4. After installation is complete open the Pulse Secure client from the Start menu.


5. Once the client is open configure a new connection by clicking on the + button in the Connections header.


6. Enter this information:

Click Add


7. Start the connection by clicking the Connect button.


8. Enter JWU credentials when prompted and click "Connect."


9. Once connected, a green check mark will be displayed in the connection dialog box.

The Disconnect button will be displayed. An icon is also displayed in the Notification Tray to indicate connection status:  


10. When ready to disconnect open the application and click Disconnect.

Have you installed the VPN software?

If so, continue:


2. Open the Pulse Secure client from the Start menu.

 


3. Start the connection by clicking the Connect button.


4. Enter JWU credentials when prompted and click "Connect."


5. Once connected a green check mark will be displayed in the connection dialog box.

The Disconnect button will be displayed. An icon is also displayed in the Notification Tray to indicate connection status:  


6. Click "Connect." Wait several moments for the connection.


Disconnect

 

Open the application and click "Disconnect."

When successfully disconnected the green checkmark will disappear and the Connect button will reappear:

1. If you have already installed the VPN software, click the pulse icon in the Menu Bar

 

If the Menu Bar icon is not present look for the Pulse application in the Applications folder by clicking Go - Applications from the Finder window

  


2. Click "Connect."


3. Enter your JWU username and password. Click "Connect."


4. Once connected, a green checkmark will display next to the connection name.

There will be a Disconnect button. The Menu bar icon will also change.


5. You are now connected to JWU's VPN.


To Log Out

 

1. In the menu bar, click the Pulse Secure icon Select Open Pulse Secure


2. Click "Disconnect."

3. You will see the Pulse Secure icon change back to normal. You are now disconnected. 

Follow these steps to install JWU's "Virtual Private Network" (VPN) software on an Android-based tablet or smartphone.


1. Find and download the software from the Google Play store by searching for Pulse Secure.


2. Press "Install."


3. Press "Accept" to being installation.

4. Press "Open" to start the Pulse Secure application.

5. Press "Accept" to the End User License Agreement.


6. Press "Add Connection."


7. Enter the following information:

  • Connection Name: jwu
  • URL: https://vpnaccess.jwu.edu/mobile
  • All other settings: default values

Select "Create Connection."


8. Press "Connect" to open a VPN Connection.


9. Press "OK" to allow the VPN connection.

 


10. Enter your Active Directory/email Username and Password. Press "Sign in."


11. Once connected the status will change to Authenticated / VPN: Connected.

The Sign Out button will appear and a key icon will display in the top menu tray. 

Outside of the VPN application the VPN key icon will be displayed in the menu tray as long as the device is connected to the JWU network. 

On-campus resources are now available to the device. 

Note that limitations of the device may prevent access to certain resources or applications (ex. Shared folders, web pages requiring Java or Flash player).


To Disconnect

Navigate back to the application and press Sign Out. 

Follow these steps to install JWU's "Virtual Private Network" (VPN) software on an Apple i-device (iPhone or iPad).

If there is an older version of Junos Pulse VPN client installed it should be removed from your device to ensure proper operation of the new version.


1. Find & Download the software from the Apple App Store by searching for Pulse Secure and Selecting Get:


2. After installing the software locate it and run it.  Accept the License Agreement:


3. Press Enable Pulse Secure.


4. Select "Configuration."


5. Configuration Settings:

  • Name: JWU
  • URL: https://vpnaccess.jwu.edu/mobile
  • All other settings: Defaulted (Authentication: Password; Realm: Optional; Role: Optional)

6. Press "Connect."


7. Enter your JWU username and password, then press "Sign In."


8. The status will change to Connected.

The Disconnect button will display, and the VPN icon will appear in the menu tray.


9. Outside of the VPN application the VPN icon will be displayed in the menu tray as long as the device is connected.

To disconnect from VPN:
